CATAMARAN SHB

At the beginning of 2011, ALMET Marine cut an aluminium kit fishing boat and exported it to Tunisia.

This catamaran, with a length of 19 meters, a width of 6.50 meters, can reach a speed of  knots. It is dedicated to fish farming. It is equiped with a 4-ton wrecking crane, and its wide and cleared deck allows to change fishing nets easily. 5083 H111 aluminium has been chosen for hull and superstructure for its lightness, its robustness and its longevity.

Designed by the naval architect Nabil SALLEM, graduated from the ENSA school of Nantes (France), this vessel was built in his own tunisian shipyard, COMEDI.

ADRIEN

Since 2004, Jean-Luc Van Den Heede holds the sailing round the world tour record from East to West (Global Challenge – non-stop round the world tour against hell or high water) on board of his aluminium boat “ADRIEN”. His record : 122 days, 14 hours, 3 minutes and 49 seconds.

His boat, “ADRIEN”, with an aluminium hull was achieved by:

Architect : GILLES VATON Aluminium 5083 : in partnership with PECHINEY Kit plasma cutting : ALMET MARINE Nantes Shipyard: GAMELIN in La Rochelle

ALMET Marine had the privilege, with other partners, to work on this extraordinary adventure with this special sailor.

EDA-R

For the building of the Dragon’s 39 Trawler by the shipyard CNTI, ALMET MARINE supplied aluminium plates, profiles and the cutting by underwater plasma machine of the floor, deck beams and platings as well.
This ecodesigned ship combines the Aluminium alloy’s lightness with a hull engineered to get a high efficient shape of the water entry. This initiative helps to lower power consumption.
Thus, this electricity powered ship, supplied by a generator, has a fuel consumption of 4 litres per hour at speed of 8 knots.

The choice of environmental friendly material as Aluminium has been choosen for the design of this Trawler.

PLASMA CUTTING

ALMET Marine owns a very powerful plasma cutting machine which is totally dedicated to production of aluminium boat kits. This machine has a precise and apparent marking system (permanent marker) that does not alter the aluminium sheet surface. This process allows to mark water lines, alignments of the pieces and all references required for assembly and welding.

The cutting of the pieces is done under water to restrict heat affected zones and therefore the metal stress relieving. This technology guarantees very precise tolerances on very large and big cut pieces.

Each piece (reference) is individually identified either manually or, in most cases, with a label system indicating the alloy, the name of the piece, cast number of the aluminium sheet (traceability of the metal), name of the project, and/or any other information allowing to sort the parts when several but same boats are cut at the same time.

Traceability of the metal is complete and ensures compliance of our cutting with the requirements of our customers and of main classification societies such as BV, LR, DNV, ABS …

L’ÉLISABET

ALMET Marine took part, for the french OCEA shipyard, in the building of the Motor Yacht vessel: “L’Elisabet”.

With a length of 47 meters for a width of 8.5 meters, “L’Elisabet” was designed by the naval architects Joubert-Nivelt whereas interior decoration was entrusted to Lazzaini Pickering.

Entirely designed in aluminium with Bureau Veritas certification, ALMET Marine marked and cut with its underwater plasma cutting machine the whole set of pieces for hull and superstructure, and then delivered the kit at OCEA’s shipyard.

Developped for the deep-sea navigation, the hull has been strengthen for the crossing of iced waters. Its propulsion is assured by two C32 Acert Caterpillar engines of 1300cc, reaching a speed of 17 knots and an automony of 4500 miles. “L’Elisabet” is equiped with a 10-people crew and has 4 cabins allowing to board 10 passengers.

SEAFOX

ALMET Marine supplied 5083 H111 aluminium plates and 6005A T6 aluminium profiles for the building of an offshore catamaran of 24-meter length and 10-meter width. Then, plates have been cut with waterjet and underwater plasma.

This boat, built by the french shipyard NAVALU, will be exploited by an english company.

The SEAFOX is the first aluminium catamaran dedicated to servicing windmills on the sea. It allows NAVALU shipyard to enlarge its activity to “wind farm” renewable energies.

Innovation: this boat has 2 shaft lines and 2 engines for each hull (working with 2 propellers in case of break down on the working site). This ensures comfort during operations and safety for the crew and the 12 passengers.

STX MSC PREZIOSA

We thank STX ST Nazaire shipyard  for inviting Almet Marine to visit the MSC PRECIOZA liner beginning of March  2013, before its departure.

The leaving of a liner is a major event for the region, the MSC Préziosa shows awesome characteristics : – 333 meters long and 38 meters width – 138 000 tons – 1751 cabins – a crew of 1370 to welcome more than 4300 passengers

Even if, comparing to steel, aluminium is little-used on a boat of this size, it is regularly found in the higher parts of the boat like radar masts and also as a part of some structures. The use of aluminium is required when some weight should be saved.

However, the use of  stainless steel is omnipresent inside the liner. Stainless steel comes in every shapes and finishings,  mirror-polished, brushed-polished, engraved, coloured, hammered, with treads…It can be cut or formed sheets,  profiles…

For the viewing pleasure!

AR VAG TREDAN

Vessel built by STX, in collaboration with SDI, for the town of Lorient.

Zero CO2 emissions !

The AR VAG TREDAN (which means “electric ship” in Breton) is a 100% electric ferry entirely built in aluminium by STX. This catamaran measures 22.10 meters long for 7.20 meters wide. It can take on board more than 100 people, bikes and reaches 10 knots at maximum load.

This entirely ELECTRIC vessel has been developped with a revolutionary technology of “overcapacities” to carry out regular crossings between Lorient and Locmiquelic without any CO2 emissions and in total silence ! STX allows the AR VAG TREDAN to perform its crossing in full autonomy with its electric propulsion and to refill in only 4 minutes, time of a call.

ALMET Marine worked with STX particularly on the supply of aluminium kits, cut with underwater plasma technology, for the achievements of hull and superstructure.

The AR VAG TREDAN is classified by Bureau Veritas as “Green Ship”.

NGV ASCO et ALISO

These two High Speed Crafts (HSC), monohull entirely built with Aluminium, have 102 meters length with a deep V hull.
They were built as per Bureau Veritas HSC classification.
With a transport capacity of 500 passengers and 150 vehicules, these HSC reach a cruising speed of approx. 37 knots.
For the building of the decks, Almet supplied MIG-welded panels made from alloy 5083 extruded profiles mesuring 2500mm width by 12000mm length.
